On the 18th June 2016,the Ghanaian Team hosted their first event to kickstart a series of activities lined up for the Wiki Loves Women project in Ghana with a training for the female mentors of Tech Need Girls.The event was a training for the female mentors of Tech Need Girls cohort. The Team took the Lady mentees through a session on Wikipedia and also introduced the ladies to the Wiki Loves Women Project and how they could also contribute.
This was very crucial since Tech Need Girls a brainchild of Soronko Solutions with Mrs Regina Honu a techpreneur as the CEO was identified as one of the network partners for this continental project.This event was preceded by a networking and a fashion show event the previous day which had in attendance Farida Bedwei (CoFounder and CTO of Logicel), Enyonam Kumahor (Managing Partner of Cobalt Partners) and Yvette Atekpe (Regional Managing Director at IS Internet Solutions Ghana Ltd) and the Wiki Loves Women Ghanaian team.
Later that day the team joined a side event organised by the Ghanaian Local Guides group during the Global LG Meetup Activity which was happening simultaneously across the globe. This was also aimed at forging ties with the Local Guides Community and leveraging their network of photographers for the Wiki Loves Women project in Ghana.
