Throughout March 2020, Wiki Loves Women celebrated Africa’s women leaders with the Tell Us About Her drive on the ISA tool. The drive improved the visibility of political leaders, activists, and feminists across Africa on Wikimedia projects by asking players to add relevant information to images that represent or include Africa’s female leaders.

Over the month of March, and despite the upheavals caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, there were over 1519 descriptions added to 1781 images by 14 contributors on 1782 images. The winners were 1st place: User:Wikinade; 2nd place: User:Gamaliel; 3rd place: User:Vanotchere

Congratulations to the winners!! You can check out the campaign here: http://bit.ly/WLW_WikiGap

The ISA tool is a fun game that helps you add better descriptions onto the photographs uploaded to Wikimedia Commons so that they are more useful on Wikipedia and Wikidata. The ISA tool was developed by the principals of Wiki In Africa, as a collaboration between the Wiki Loves Africa project and Wikimedia Foundation’s Structured Data on Commons initiative.

Tell Us About Her was a Wiki Loves Women online drive held for WikiGap in 2020. WikiGap is a global event held by Wikimedia Sweden and Swedish Embassies around the world.
